Job Introduction

The BBC is one of the world’s leading news organisations, available in more than 40 languages with a weekly global audience of over 460 million. We report from more locations than any other international news organisation, and we are available on digital platforms as well as TV and radio.

World Service Languages is at the heart of the BBC’s global news operation, providing news and content across all platforms for both UK and international audiences. It is increasingly a digital first service – providing audiences with video, digital, mobile and social content. Many of our language services offer TV bulletins and programmes, and our bilingual correspondents and language staff play a key role in reporting for BBC News.

Main Responsibilities

We will give you the opportunity to experience life at the BBC as a journalist. You will find out what it’s like working in two languages - English and one of the other World Service languages listed below. You don’t need any journalism experience, but you must be passionate about news.

We will give you the training you need. You’ll spend time in the relevant language service and in other parts of BBC News, and meet a whole range of people – reporters, producers, editors, presenters, production staff, online and social media journalists. You will get to experience working life on our programmes, find out how our journalists contribute and develop ideas, and how they work in different languages.
