Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Dubai’s premier lifestyle destination, is located on Jumeirah Beach Road just 15 km from the city centre and 25 km from Dubai International Airport. The 26-floor hotel has a curved design which represents the shape of a breaking wave and offers pristine private beaches with undisturbed views of the Arabian Gulf.

An opportunity has arisen for a Sommelier to join the Bastion Restaurant in Jumeirah Beach Hotel.

The main duties and responsibilities of this role:

  • Identify, recommend and upon approval implement the beverage service to the assigned outlet(s) to ensure that services are in line with policies and procedures of the Group and the relevant Outlet.
  • Promote a beverage concept in line with the F&B outlet theme and value proposition to stay different and propose services that compliment and engage the outlet clientele
  • Remain up to date in industry standards, practices, and trends internationally and assesses own area of responsibility against these to make recommendations and implement improvements to remain at the forefront of hospitality services
  • Provide training to F&B team members on existing and new products, sales techniques, and other required training to uphold quality, execute the business plan as identified and maintain the utmost customer experience for patrons
  • Ensure that the correct beverage protocols are followed during guest visits, offering, recommending, and preparing beverages according to the agreed standards, promotions, and recipes to fulfil their dining experience
  • Manage stock holding and administration for beverage within the outlet(s) to always ensure availability and monitor customer activity/trends to identify sell-up opportunities
  • Manage the set-up of the outlet before each service to ensure that the outlet is prepared to serve, and the customer experience is not stalled or affected
  • Maintain an expert level of understanding of all beverages including style, type, origin, strengths, accompaniments, and pairings in order to train staff, assist guests, up-sell where appropriate and ensure that guests experience the “ultimate experience”
  • Maintain customer satisfaction through the provision of high-quality beverage services and ensures the swift and efficient resolution of customer complaints
  • Review suggestions, feedback and implements corrective actions to respond to customer needs and maintain customer satisfaction and loyalty
  • Benchmark and keep track of competitor activities including promotions and offers to remain aware of the competitor landscape
  • Ensure compliance to all relevant Health, Safety and Environment management procedures and controls within a defined area of activity so that Jumeirah Group provides world class and luxurious hospitality services to its guests
  • Implement approved departmental policies, processes, and procedures, and provide instructions to subordinates and monitor their adherence so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner while delivering a quality service to guests and maintaining standards of excellence
  • Motivate subordinates and contribute to the identification of opportunities for participating in change initiatives, programmes and projects considering best practices, improvement of processes and productivity improvement
