The InterContinental Hotels Group® properties in Dubai Festival City consist of four hotels. These include the luxury brand InterContinental, the lavish long-stay InterContinental Residence Suites, the superior upscale Crowne Plaza, and the vibrant mid-scale Holiday Inn & Suites. In addition to over 1600 rooms, the four properties boast a selection of 16 restaurants and bars, an impressive 3,800-square-metre Event Centre across two levels, the 5,000-square-metre Festival Arena by InterContinental, the luxurious Spa InterContinental, and state-of-the-art gymnasium and swimming pool facilities.
Position Overview

A little taste of your day-to-day
- Maintain the entire hotel apartment facility, including the physical building structure, all mechanical, electrical, FLS, HVAC systems, and other related equipment in accordance with energy conservation and preventative maintenance programmes.
- Ensure the upkeep of guest areas to maintain IHG standards.
- Conduct house tours and visually assess the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the physical structures of the hotel apartment, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and any other related equipment.
- Verify completion of all routine maintenance on public spaces and verify completion of all repairs, replacement and renovation projects to offices and employee work areas.
- Follow safety procedures for personnel and equipment by IHG standards / HACCP / Dubai Municipality standards and Civil Defence standards.
- Maintain effective energy management and preventive maintenance programmes and conduct special training for other operating departments on the safe and efficient use of equipment and energy in the hotel apartment.
- Schedule employees and control them.
- Maintain all FLS Equipment's in a healthy condition.
- General office administration (responding to letters, emails and special requests).
- Supervise all engineers / colleagues.
- Plan, execute and control maintenance work, Green engages, DET, QEMS, JANA control etc.
- Organise and maintain important files, bills and receipts.
- Work closely with CDOE & smoothen operation.
- Control vacation planning.
- Supportive role in creating departmental budget and controlling of expenses.
- Train and practise emergency and security issues.
- Use Workforce Optimisation Tool (WOT) to identify areas for improvement in workforce efficiency.
- Manage performance.
- Ensure that all new joiners receive a full induction programme in line with guidelines defined by IHG, Brand Standards, and the hotel's policies and procedures to allow them to carry out their role.
- Assist in planning for future staffing needs and recruiting in line with company guidelines. Prepare and administer a detailed induction programme for new joiners, aligned with the aim of providing a great start.
- Assist in maintaining a comprehensive, current, and guest-focused set of departmental standards and procedures and oversee their implementation.
- Ensure that a training needs analysis of the team is carried out and training programmes are designed and implemented to meet those needs.
- Carry out probation and formal performance appraisal discussions in line with company guidelines. Coach, counsel, and discipline staff, providing constructive feedback to enhance performance and maintaining good relations by regularly communicating with team.
What we need from you
- Communication skills - guests and colleagues will need to come to you with concerns as well as compliments
- Fluency in the English language - extra language skills would be great, but not essential
- Your Time management skills will be important to know how to prioritise tasks under pressure.
- Your outgoing personality is important in order to help our guests, and create memorable moments
- Flexibility - night, weekend and holiday shifts are all part of the job
- Experience - ideally, you'll have spent at least one year in a similar position
- Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, preferably with a secondary focus on electrical engineering.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
