Equity Corporate Finance, Associate - Rothschild & Co, Dubai

About Us:

Rothschild & Co is a leading global financial services group with seven generations of family control and a history of over 200 years at the centre of the world's financial markets. Our expertise, intellectual capital and global network enable us to provide a distinct perspective that makes a meaningful difference to our clients, communities and planet.

We have 4,200 talented specialists on the ground in over 40 countries around the world, enabling us to deliver a unique global perspective across four market-leading business divisions – Global Advisory, Wealth Management, Asset Management and Five Arrows.

As a family-controlled business built on relationships, we place a huge emphasis on our people and finding the right colleagues to take our business forward.

Rothschild & Co is committed to an inclusive and supportive environment where diversity and different perspectives are valued. We are focused on the attraction and recruitment, development and retention and progression of high calibre talent to ensure we and our clients benefit from the value of difference.

Rothschild & Co
  • The Dubai office has almost 50 bankers with an additional c.10 in Riyadh, being the largest and most active independent financial advisory practice in the Middle East covering M&A, equity, debt and restructuring.
  • The Equity Corporate Finance Team comprises 3 specialists (looking to expand to 4), supported by a pool of generalist analysts and associates. The team advises on the full spectrum of equity related transactions – primarily IPOs but also rights issues, sell-downs, pre-IPO / minority deals. We have advised on 4 IPOs in the last 18 months and we have almost 10 current mandates that we hope will come to market over the next 18 months.
Overview of Role
  • An informed and impartial perspective to help our clients reach their goals through the design and execution of equity processes.
  • We provide impartial, expert advice to large and mid-sized corporations, sovereign wealth funds, private equity, families, entrepreneurs and governments. We pride ourselves on providing independent and best in class advice, being seen as a trusted partner, taking a long-term view on the challenges they face.
  • Our deep understanding of financial markets, the high volume of transactions we advise on, and our unrivalled network of industry specialists in 40 countries, provide clients with a comprehensive perspective to achieve their strategic goals. Our distinct perspective allows us to achieve outstanding results for our clients and act as their most trusted advisers over the long term.
  • The role advertised here is not akin to a typical ECM role, given the expectation is that the candidate would be advising on ECM products but also fulfilling the role of a generalist corporate finance banker (eg assisting with the business plan, equity story, valuation etc). We think this is an exciting opportunity to work across industries, be more entrenched in an IPO process and be able to operate and add value across all of the work-streams.
Responsibilities
  • Work on multiple transactions and with multiple project teams simultaneously on all critical aspects of transactions, including client development and initial opportunity evaluation, drafting equity stories, building business plans, running weekly calls (project management of transactions more generally), inputting into investor targeting, reviewing databases etc;
  • Researching relevant industries to support the wider team's marketing initiatives, optimising various sources of information; and
  • Supporting the team to coordinate each transaction process both internally and with other advisors
Education and Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent: 2:1 or above
Experience, Skills and Competencies Required
  • 3+ years experience in corporate finance (sector team or as a generalist)
  • Genuine interest in corporate finance but with a desire to spend more time doing equity advisory in the Middle East
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills to develop financial models and scrutinise existing business plans
  • Project management skills – strong organisational skills but equally having the gravitas to push things forwards (both externally and internally)
  • Technical ECM knowledge
  • Inquisitive and keen to build on existing knowledge
  • Ability to draft and comment on equity stories
  • Ability to coach and mentor analysts and interns is essential
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple project deliverables simultaneously
  • Ability to build effective relationships internally between individuals, teams and lines of business, across different geographies
  • An exceptional strong work ethic
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Our goal is to have a balanced, inclusive and flexible environment which enables all colleagues to achieve their personal and professional aspirations, and to ensure that Rothschild & Co provides longer term opportunities for talent.

Attracting and retaining like-minded, high potential colleagues is key to our success.

Rothschild & Co is an independent financial advisory group with intellectual strength: our assets are the women and men who work in the firm.

When we recruit experienced professionals, we look for people who can add to this intellectual strength, offer a distinct perspective and have a genuine passion for what they do. They have the drive and determination to deliver excellence, consistently. They know the importance of independent, creative thinking and innovation, but they must also believe in the power of the team.

Working here

One reason for the long-term success of our business is the importance we place on being principled. This drives both the way we work with our clients and the way we hire, manage and develop our people – and we look for the same qualities from them in return. Our teams reflect the diverse needs of our clients, businesses and the markets we operate in around the world. We value, and seek to maintain, an eclectic mix of skills and backgrounds – encouraging everyone to come together to share their perspectives for the good of each other, the business and our clients.

We treat all our colleagues as individuals; there's no one-size-fits-all approach to the training we offer. When you join us, we will take the time to find out what your goals are and how we can help you reach them through bespoke coaching and development opportunities.
