Training Officer (Security) - The Emirates Group, Dubai

Job Purpose:

Train and brief staff on security matters so that all company personnel are conversant and comply, with the applicable security procedures, and that the key personnel, including Security, Aircrew and Ground staff are proficient in the skills and drills required in navigating a security based situation.

There are two areas for which training will be done
(a) In-flight personnel (Flight and Cabin Crew) and
(b) Ground staff (Airport, Cargo, DCA and security).

This position is for Ground staff (Airport, Cargo, DCA and security).

Job Outline:
  • Conduct all security training programmes as per delivery schedules defined by the Training Specialist or Training Manager (Security).
  • Assist the Training Specialist or Training Manager (Security) with the design and development of training programmes by conducting Training Needs Analysis. Where required, adapt and improve training course material to meet the diverse learning styles of a multi-national audience whilst still working within the established Group Security Training mandate.
  • Evaluate staff through written or online examinations and practical assessments, during which their vigilance, knowledge of, and ability to deal with, a security related incident will be assessed.
  • Prepare and organise in advance course materials, training aids and equipment for assigned course programmes, this being essential in the maintaining of a professional image and the delivery of a professional product to trainees.
  • Monitor, guide and counsel trainees on their performance and assign part-time instructors, in a mentoring role, to support the individual learning process.
  • Review course content for all security related courses and ensure that course content remains in accordance with the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA). Compose and insert necessary amendments to the relevant training manuals.
  • Provide on-line support through the Cabin Crew Portal and Crew Pulse to Cabin Crew using e-learning modules for continued professional development
  • Provide online support through my learning zone for ground staff using e-learning modules for continued professional development
  • Support the Training Specialist or Training Manager (Security) in the on-going guidance of a team of part time trainers on course content, delivery style and training environment dynamics. This will be done by providing regular feedback on individual part time trainer performance in line with performance management objectives.
Qualifications & Experience

Qualification:

  • Vocational or Diploma (12+2 or equivalent)
  • Work experience
  • Security (General): 5+ years

Knowledge/ Skills:

  • Vocational or Diploma in Aviation Security Management or equivalent qualification.
  • Working experience as a trainer in a full or part time capacity, preferably within the airline industry.
  • Excellent communication skills fluent in English (Arabic / multilingual is an added advantage).
  • Good working knowledge of MS office applications
  • Ability to work in Cross-cultural environment and do multitasking
  • Organisational and planning skills to manage your time and to meet deadlines and objectives
  • Strong team working skills and a collaborative approach to learning, both Instructor led and online.
  • Specific (Flight and Cabin Crew): Train the Trainer qualification. Knowledge of Cabin Crew procedures and aviation security
  • Specific (Ground staff): Knowledge about the security industry, cash in transit, explosives & Improvised explosive devices, Firearms, Anti-terrorism techniques, passenger, Baggage and cargo security, conflict & crisis management and access control.
