Assistant Director - ME Advisory - Moody's, Dubai

Role/Responsibilities:

The Advisory Services practice's mission is to deliver outstanding professional services to banks and other financial institutions, across Middle East, to solve their foremost challenges related to financial risk, including loan origination, deal underwriting, credit risk modelling, portfolio management, IFRS 9 and regulatory compliance, while collaborating with the product and research to advance the objectives of the Banking OU.

The team is responsible for conducting advisory work to support the implementation of customised risk management solutions through risk software products relating to client's risk and return of existing and potential transactions. Our services include benchmarking of risk management systems, design and development of risk models, implementation of our IFRS 9 and Risk Based Pricing solutions, credit process re-engineering, model validation and calibration, regulatory mandate planning, custom financial analytics, and capital allocation advisory.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead project teams to design and deliver customised solutions, carry out project management activities and arrange post-project support.

Conduct design and knowledge transfer workshops on quantitative and qualitative methodologies so that clients can utilise the full potential of Moody’s solutions. You are expected to train, quantitative analysts, non-quantitative credit analysts and senior executives.

Responsible for the production of client deliverables including final reports, presentations, and other client documentation as required.

Build custom credit risk models (PD/LGD/EAD/Stress Testing/IFRS9/Correlation/Migration) using clients’ and/or Moody’s Analytics data for the wholesale segment.

Work closely with product management, development, research and other internal teams. You are also expected to provide feedback and solutions to meet our clients and prospective clients in Middle East.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum Bachelors with an emphasis in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, or related quantitative field. Masters degree a plus. FRM or PRM or CFA designation a plus.
  • Strong working knowledge of R, Python, SAS and Excel.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience gained at either a top-tier consulting firm or within a commercial banking, financial services or capital markets environment.
  • Understanding of banking industry and credit and financial risks – regulation, origination and risk practices (Credit Modeling & Assessment, pricing/limit setting, Credit Portfolio Management (Risk and CPM), ICAAP/Stress Testing and Impairments Modeling and governance, Regulatory requirements (Basel CRD IV/V, IFRS 9, SAMA, CBUAE guidelines) highly desirable
  • Experience in building credit risk models.
  • Track record of successful project management, preferably within a commercial banking or consultancy environment.
  • Excellent analytical skills and persistence in analytical and problem solving, quantitative approach to understanding problems in finance
  • Knowledge of Moody's Analytics products is a plus (e.g., ImpairmentCalc, ImpairmentStudio, CreditLens, RiskCalc, RiskFrontier etc)
  • Must be flexible with international travel, especially across Middle East.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to build professional relationships
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Pro-active attitude with the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Fluent in English
