Role Responsibility

The Fashion Direction department are collectively responsible for the execution of advertising and editorial tier imagery, as well as broader agenda setting across the digital business.

The department is currently looking for an experienced Fashion & Lifestyle Coordinator, to support the workings of the Fashion & Lifestyle edit team that sits within the department. This role will be managed by the Senior Fashion Editor, and support their day-to-day workings, alongside the Fashion Market Editor.

This is an excellent opportunity for those with a passionate interest in editorial fashion/style and it’s place in the digital sphere, to begin building towards a career in styling / editing.

Role responsibility:

As a Fashion & Lifestyle Coordinator, you will assist the department in the creation of key fashion and broader style category messaging through the organisational, administrative and research based tasks required for photo shoots and additional digital feature outcomes. You will especially assist the Fashion Market Editor with the establishment of their best product curation workflow practices, enabling efficiencies, and meeting their definition of the highest Selfridges standards.

  • Own sample requests and returns from brands/Prs, arrange DC transfers, and do direct shop floor product pulls and returns.
  • Ensure all samples and stock are handled with extreme care on site, on set, and returned in the condition and packaging in which they arrived.
  • Maintain fashion direction styling area, including kit, equipment, and basics / underpinnings wardrobe.
  • Assist on shoots, managing sample, stock and fashion equipment logistics leading up to the shoot day, dressing of models / talent on set according to style-out plan given by the Editors – both in-house, and occasionally freelance.
  • Help oversee and source freelance junior fashion assistants on large scale projects.
  • Assist in retrieving key information for site fulfilment from the Buying and Buying Admin teams in B&M, including collating order information, essential for product call ins.
  • Assist in close communication with our production team to make sure we remain in budget on various styling production expenses, and filing of inventory reports.
  • Own product credit lists for circulation across the business.
  • Assist the Editors with reference research – runway & broader arts / cultural.
  • Assist in regular communication with the E-commerce photostudio on key product discussions for elevated e-comm executions.
  • Assist with admin required for the Fashion Market Editor’s steer contribution on product carousels and edits.
  • Own ticket requests for the team’s Fashion Week attendance.
The Ideal Candidate

Ideal candidate:

  • Excellent communicator: you will be able to handle fast paced comms both on set, and during shoot preparation periods. This must include clear and concise responses to steer, and strong email skills/ etiquette, essential for dealing with brands.
  • Experience: you will have strong experience at both junior and mid level Fashion Assisting ideally for both commercial and editorial outcomes.
  • Knowledgeable and enthusiastic: you will have a deep passion for fashion, broader style, and it’s surrounding /adjacent culture, be in tune with current trends, general industry developments, and have a broad knowledge of brands at mid level, luxury, and independent / emerging levels.
  • A Selfridges expert in the making: you will have some understanding of Selfridges customer spectrum / USPs, to build upon, and will be keen to develop a deep knowledge of our store and .com brand offer.

Though not mandatory, there is the option to include a portfolio upon application.
